Port of 3DMark03

This Benchmark works perfectly, every Test is working.

But there is a little bug in the app, the CPU information doesn't get displayed correctly. (Like my Core 2 Quad gets detected as a Pentium III)

As mentioned, every Benchmark Test and Game Test is working. (if you have a good card that is.)
Game Tests, CPU Tests, Fill Rate Tests, Vertex Shader Tests, Pixel Shader Tests and so on.

Because CrossOver has problems with ATI HD2600, HD2400 and X1600 cards, i advise users of those Cards to stay clear.

Unzip the file with 7zX, open the .dmg and copy the app to your Hard Drive.

Just to show you how 'well' it runs in comparison to the Windows side, i ran this on the same machine (on Windows 7)
Clearly the native Windows version is much faster.

But this may give you the idea on how much slower the Wine Ports run, performance and speed-wise.
I'd say that they are 3 times slower then a real Windows app/game (most of the time)
But the Benchmarks on the mac would be equally slow then :)

I like to play: Torchlight
This is awesome, thanks!

I've always wondered how Crossover & Cider compared to VMWare & Parallels. And of course bootcamp :)

I ran 3dmark05 in VMWare vs Parallels a while ago, and found that Parallels offers roughly 15-20% better 3d performance.

This time I did just Parallels, but here are the numbers:

3dMark 03-- E8200, nVidia 9600GSO
Settings - CXPort / Parallels / Bootcamp
Total - 12350 / 11304 / 20779
GT1 (FPS) - 196.4 / 189.8 / 471.1
GT2 (FPS) - 91.8 / 74.2 / 145.5
GT3 (FPS) - 85.3 / 71.5 / 127.2
GT4 (FPS) - 90.6 / 98.4 / 154.2
CPU - 2081 / 769 / 1945

Analysis:
CX Port vs Parallels
3d wise:
CX port doesn't offer that much over Parallels. Parallels averaged about 10% slower but showed faster in the last test.

CPU wise:
CX port was much faster (about 3x!). I tried various settings to get Parallels up to speed - adjusting RAM & CPU cores, power settings, etc. But I could not break the 800 barrier, whereas CX was 2000+ without any fiddling.
In this test, Parallels was a fresh install of Win7 Home Basic, no adjustments outside what Parallels does.

CX Port vs Bootcamp
3d wise:
CX runs about 50% of native Windows speed

CPU wise:
CX is running native speeds. In fact, slightly faster than bootcamp! Bootcamp is almost a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium, but does have AV software running.

I would've guessed very different results.

Great Analysis, RougePirate.

I wouldn't have guessed that a ported 3DMark is about equal as a native install on Windows in terms of CPU performance...

And i always suspected that VMware or parallels is build for a speedy user interface, and not for actual horsepower.
So much for 'direct hardware virtualization' then ^^
